An AIDS awareness center was established at the John William Montessori School through the efforts of Monica Westin, a registered nurse born in Sweden. In this work it has been a great help to her when we have have volunteer nurses staying at the school.

Monica Westin has developed appropriate materials for each age group, starting with kindergarten.

The school clinic is now called Monica's Clinic in her honor.
