The logo of Friends of John William Education Center is an Adinkra symbol from the Akan in Ghana.

Such symbols were often repeatedly stamped onto cloth as decoration.

Each Adinkra symbol has a name and an associated proverb.

The name of the symbol we use as our logo is Ese ne tekerema (the teeth and tongue)

The associated proverb is Wonnwo ba ne se. No child is born with its teeth.

A rough explanation of the proverb is We improve and advance.
