Computers at John William Montessori School

The school’s dial-up Internet connection was supported ($540) and the school web site was maintained ($167).

Conflict resolution training

During the summer of 2001, the AVP trainer from Togo returned to offer small group planning sessions with the Ghanaians who had completed all three levels of AVP training the previous year. There were workshops for the staff on counseling students on career choices and on the development of peer mediation of conflicts amongst students. Four other AVP trainers from the US, Nigeria and Uganda offered workshops so that the Ghanaians could serve their apprenticeships with experienced trainers.

As was the case in 2000, these programs were made possible by the generosity of Scarsdale and Adelphi Monthly Meetings, Purchase Quarterly Meeting and Baltimore Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), as well as many individual Friends, and the use of the school facilities.

Building Construction at John William Montessori School

The ground and first floors of the third building were completed in February of 2001. This allowed the Library to move into a larger space. A large assembly room was provided, which is quite necessary in inclement weather.

The First Aid room was moved into the old space of the Library and renamed Monica's Clinic. This allows more space for students who need to rest as well as substantial space for the education on HIV / AIDS awareness.

$16,000 was donated for the construction.

DVD and CD of Performance by John William Montessori School Students

Materials were purchased to support the making of a video of JWMS students performing at Kumasi Prison and other venues  on tape in both PAL and NTSC formats and on North American Region DVD, with an audio version on CD ($365).

Support for the John William Montessori School Community

Medical care for staff, using the services of Ghana Care, Incorporated, was provided at a cost of $459.
